How to Solve Magento 500 Internal Server Error

How to Solve Magento 500 Internal Server Error, After uploading Magento files on server, while trying to install magento or after accessing the URL it’s showing 500 internal server error. While there are chances that it may have multiple reasons, in my case it’s simple issues it caused because of file permissions.

In my case the solution is simple, just change the index.php file permission to 0644.

But if that solution doesn’t solved your issues, then you can get more information by enabling debug mode. You can get additional info about the errors by Turning on Developer Mode. Look in the Magento bootstrap file (index.php), you’ll see lines similar to the following.

Remove comment from these lines, Just delete # symbol.
[php] #Mage::setIsDeveloperMode(true);
#ini_set(‘display_errors’, 1);

In Production Server, never enable errors & debug mode. Only on development server enable these errors & debug mode.
